During our Spring 2026 season, Trent Radio visited Queen Mary Public School to conduct a series of workshops about broadcasting and journalism with seventh and eighth grade students.

For the final workshop, Jill Staveley (Director of Programming) and Eddy Sweeney (Programming and Volunteer Support Coordinator) transformed Queen Mary’s Library into a pop-up recording studio.

The students in Mr. Ruck’s, Mr. Dyer’s, and Mr. Kirkwood’s classes were divided into small groups to produce a news story that would broadcast on Trent Radio for a one-time “Queen Mary News.” The groups reported on a variety of topics relevant to the Queen Mary community, including the school’s Winter Olympics, this Spring’s production of Rock of Ages, food donations from COBS bread, and more.
