On Tuesday, May 27th, the CNIB Mobile Hub set up in the basement of the Peterborough Public Library, bringing accessibility services and assistive technology demonstrations to the community. The mobile unit, part of CNIB’s outreach to areas without permanent offices, allowed residents to test devices such as talking watches, smart glasses, and talking microwaves.
Local resident Devon Wilkins praised the opportunity to explore new technologies and discounted products. CNIB staff member Kate Rickamini gave a presentation on self-advocacy, encouraging attendees to know their rights and speak up for accessibility. The event highlighted CNIB’s commitment to empowering people with vision loss across Eastern Ontario.
