Less than two weeks after classes started at Trent university many students living on campus have found themselves without a place to stay.

On Tuesday, September 22nd, a watermain at the Trent’s Symons Campus burst, prompting the university to close most of its Peterborough facilities until Monday, September 28th.

All residence buildings on Symons campus were shut due to the water main break, leaving students forced to leave campus and find shelter elsewhere. Some received as little as 30 minutes’ notice to the campus closure.

LJI reporter Evan Robins spoke to students evacuating campus on September 22nd. Listen to hear what they had to say, and an interview with Trent VP Julie Davis about the university’s response to the crisis.
