The City of Peterborough’s Tourism Strategy and Community Safety Plan were back on the agenda at a June 15th meeting of city council, alongside a motion introduced last week by mayor Jeff Leal to cut the city’s development charges in half for the next three years.
Debate of the Community Safety Plan became somewhat mired in a procedural kerfuffle over the inclusion of an item on active transportation. That bullet point had been omitted from the final report presented to council, and at the meeting Town Ward Councillor Joy Lachica motioned to have it put back in.
Council also approved the previous week’s last-minute motion to slash development charges in the hopes of leveraging a provincial housing incentive announced on June 1st.
