Peterborough Friends: Creating connections and community in the city

Last Saturday, I joined Peterborough Friends for their weekly coffee meetup downtown, where laughter and new connections filled the air. Founded in late 2024 by Oriona Rendon, the group started as a simple way to make friends but quickly grew into a vibrant community of over 700 members.

Through a Discord server and regular in-person events like board games, karaoke, and art crawls, members can find genuine friendship and support. Moderators, like Berta, help keep the group welcoming and active; while members, such as Sadaf and Erika, share how Peterborough Friends has opened new social opportunities and helped them rediscover the city’s local gems.

The group recently held a logo contest to further unite its members. The winning design will be revealed at their upcoming “Starlit Garden Fantasy Ball” on August 8.
