A new yoga program in Peterborough is helping children with disabilities move, breathe, and relax alongside their caregivers.
The Willow Studio, in partnership with Five Counties Children’s Centre, launched the pilot session on July 16. The one-hour class included breath work, dancing, yoga storytelling, and quiet meditation tailored to each child’s needs.
“The work really honors each child and their unique needs,” said Willow Studio owner Angela DeMeester, a parent of a child with cerebral palsy. “We’re just helping families like mine feel less alone and more empowered.”
The next free session is set for August 6. DeMeester hopes the program will continue to grow. “More kids deserve to enjoy the benefits of yoga and mindfulness,” she said.
The Willow Studio is located at 1600 Lansdowne Street West in Peterborough.
