Peterborough Humane Society are in the middle of their month-long “Dogust” campaign. Over the last month of the summer, they cut adoption costs for dogs from $600 to $300 to encourage adoptions during their slow season when the kennels tend to fill up.
I spoke to PHS Development and Communications Coordinator, Désirée Kretschmar about the campaign and how PHS handles adoptions.

During our conversation she highlighted a suite of programs the PHS utilizes to try and keep pets with their families despite the mounting cost of living.
