The Ontario government is investing over $250,000 in eight local initiatives to support older adults in Peterborough-Kawartha. The funding, delivered through the Seniors Community Grant Program, was announced at Activity Haven on July 28.

One of the funded projects is Lift for Life, a strength and balance program run in partnership with Trent Health in Motion. “These programs are vital to support the physical and mental health of older adults,” said Mark Tinkler, board president of Activity Haven.

MPP Dave Smith said the grant program reflects a broad approach to accessibility and inclusion: “It’s not just that we’re doing something for our seniors, we’re making our communities stronger.”

Programs begin rolling out this summer.
