May 5th is Red Dress Day, a national day of awareness for missing and murdered indigenous women in Canada. More than a hundred people gathered outside of Peterborough City Hall on the morning of May 5th to honour and mourn the lives of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and 2-Spirit People.
Present at the ceremony were local Indigenous leaders including Peterborough’s Indigenous Relations Advisor, Shelley Knott, Nohojiwanong Friendship Centre’s Jess Vossen, and Hiawatha First Nation’s Chief Laurie Carr.
