Peterborough Police Service Chief Stu Betts lauded the work of service officers responding to property crimes and policing the 2026 Head of the Trent Regatta at the service’s board meeting on Tuesday, October 20th.

Betts said this year’s event went “smoothly,” in his opening remarks discussing the police response to Trent students’ unsanctioned parties on October 3rd, the Saturday of Head of the Trent weekend.

The board also heard a delegation from small business owner Jennifer Reuby, who asked for a dedicated police presence at the Reid Street municipal parking lot, citing concerns of drug use. Reuby had previously delegated at an August 31st meeting of Peterborough City Council.

Listen to hear parts of Reuby’s delegation, as well as highlights from Chief Betts’ Remarks.

A video shared by PTBO Canada, the Peterborough Police Service, and Chief Stu Betts on Instagram shows the Chief hanging from a pull-up bar on London Street, which had been closed by police, surrounded by PPS officers and Trent University students.
