Peterborough Currents is an independent, community-centered, local news outlet in Peterborough, Ontario. Though it was founded in 2017, Currents changed its organizational structure in February 2025; according to their website, “a privately owned business was no longer the appropriate organizational structure for a news outlet that citizens had come to value so deeply.”
In Summer 2025, the owners donated Peterborough Currents’ assets to a newly-formed non-profit organization, Peterborough Association for Local News.
To continue producing news under its new structure, Currents needed editors. In Fall of 2025, Dave Tough and Gabe Pollock were chosen as co-editors of Peterborough Currents.
