Peterborough-based charity and bicycle workshop, B!KE: The Peterborough Community Bike Shop, is looking for donations of used children’s bicycles for their Kids Bike Build in April.

“[Kids Bike Build] is a program to collect used bikes from the community, refurbish them, and then provide them back to organizations working with children, and families, for them to distribute to their clients,” says program manager, Jean Greig.

Kids Bike Builds of previous years have refurbished up to 80 bicycles. The build is conducted by B!KE’s team of volunteers.

“Some of the organizations we work with are New Canadians Centre, Children’s Aid Foundation, YES shelter, Nogojiwanong Friendship Centre, Youth Unlimited.”

This year’s donations have already begun with a large donation coming from Toronto-based bicycle charity, Bikes Without Borders.
