Ontarians looking for a secular alternative to a religious wedding ceremony now have more options at their disposal, thanks in part to Peterborough MPP Dave Smith.
Smith co-sponsored a bill amending the marriage act which allows MPPs to officiate civil ceremonies.
The Peterborough MPP says he was inspired to offer a secular and accessible option for constituents looking to get married who were unable to, or would rather not, be married in a courthouse.
