Clean Streets Peterborough aims to make Peterborough’s waste collection rules more permissive and less opaque in an effort to curtail dumping in parks and other public property in the city.
The pilot project was approved in June of 2025, and came back before council on May 25, 2026 at general committee to consider additional changes aimed at lowering barriers to waste collection, and keeping the public educated and informed.
Listen to hear Trent Radio broadcast journalist Evan Robins speak to Ilmar Simanovkis, Municipal Operations Commissioner for the City of Peterborough, about the Clean Streets initiative and its aims.
